The Swiss Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held in Bern on 20 November 2018 and gives individuals from the worlds of politics, business, management and science an opportunity to exchange their ideas on digitization. Topics for discussion should be submitted by 31 August 2018.

International ERI strategy

The Federal Council has approved Switzerland's revised international strategy for education, research and innovation (ERI). The new version pays more attention to topics that have assumed greater significance, such as vocational training or support with the digitization process.

The EU Joint Research Centre (JRC) has just launched a mobile game to help raise awareness of privacy risks and data protection rights in a fun and interactive way. The game is designed to introduce young people to concepts including the notion of personal data and the right to be forgotten.

STEM potential in Switzerland

Compared with other countries, Swiss adolescents, particularly young women, have high STEM potential. This conclusion emerged from a study based on PISA data. Despite regional differences in the education system, STEM potential in all Swiss cantons is high.

According to the report, two of the greatest challenges currently facing the education system are migration and digitization.

At the #digitale21 in April in Lugano, representatives from business, science and education discussed the effects of digitization on training, teaching and work. It resulted in ten recommendations from the Swiss Academies that summarized the findings of the symposium.
