Further education

Specialised middle schools prepare students for education at colleges of higher vocational education and training, as well as universities of applied sciences, in the fields of health, social work, education, communication and information, design and art, music and theatre, as well as applied psychology.

The specialised middle school certificate enables admission to colleges of higher vocational education and training in the studied vocational field.

Specialised matura

The specialised matura enables admission to various courses of study at universities of applied sciences in the fields specified above, without an admission test. A specialised matura in the vocational field of education also enables admission to teacher-training courses for the pre-school and primary levels, without an admission test.

The admission procedures of various universities of applied sciences and universities of teacher education involve additional requirements (e.g. the passing of aptitude tests).
