Federal and advanced federal PET diploma examinations
The preparations for the examinations are not regulated. Candidates usually attend preparatory courses. The content and programme are based on the stipulations of the examination regulations, which are overseen by the responsible professional organisations and are subject to the approval of the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology (OPET).
Most of the federal PET diploma examinations are carried out for the professional fields of marketing planning, human resource management, accounting and computer science.
Most of the advanced federal PET diploma examinations are carried out for in the areas of business information technology, sales management, financial analysis and agriculture.
Colleges of higher vocational education and training
At the colleges of higher vocational education and training, courses are offered in the following fields:

Each course is based on a framework curriculum developed by the education providers in collaboration with professional organisations. The Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology (OPET) approves the framework curricula at the request of the Federal Commission for Colleges of Higher Vocational Education and Training. The framework curricula stipulate (among others) the occupational profiles, the competences that must be achieved, the titles awarded, the fields of education, the time apportioned to each of them and general subject areas. The language of instruction is the respective national language. Bilingual instruction and English as the language of instruction are possible.
