Science on Stage Switzerland

MINT teachers from all levels can submit educational school projects to the national competition. The four best projects will be invited to participate at the Science on Stage Europe festival to be held in Portugal in autumn 2019. The closing date for entries is 30 September 2018.

Extracurricular STEM activities

Switzerland suffers a shortage of specialists in the fields of technology and information. This report (in German) by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences published in December 2017 gives an overview and an analysis of extracurricular offers in this area as well as recommendations for action.

GirlsCoding: Yes, we can!

GirlsCoding was created at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne by a group of graduate students. Their goal is to motivate kids -- and especially girls – for computer science. Workshops initiate 9–12 years old kids in interconnected unplugged activities and coding exercises.

Education Digital

Education Digital is a national initiative by digitalswitzerland for the promotion of Swiss enterprises in the digital sector. The non-commercial platform offers a transparent overview on initial and continuing education offers in the digital field from over 20 public and private providers.

Awards presentation national contest

A total of 93 young scientists from all over Switzerland got together at the end of April at the campus of the Teachers University of FHNW to present their projects for the national contest of Swiss Youth in Science. For the first time a number of schools were awarded for frequent participation.

STEM Careers Barometer

To promote STEM professions, the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences have conducted a survey with 6000 persons from the German and French speaking areas of Switzerland. Result : girls feel less stimulated than boys and – STEM professions for women have to fulfill other criteria than for men.
