Universities of applied sciences in figures
 
In the winter semester 2004 / 2005 49,000 students were registered at the universities of applied sciences (FH) including the teaching training colleges (PH). Approx. 59% of these are men. Approx. 15% of the students are foreigners. New students constituted15.3% of their age group in 2004. In 2003 the average admission age was 24.2 and the average age for the acquisition of a diploma was 27.7.
 
In 2004, 7,265 students received their university of applied sciences degree. 50% of the degrees went to students from the fields of economics and services or engineering and information technology (IT).
