Higher vocational education: Who can attend?

Vocational and higher vocational exams (Berufs- und höhere Fachprüfungen)
The admission to the vocational exams is generally granted to those who have completed their vocational education and can prove a number of years of working experience. The same applies to the higher vocational exam, which sometimes requires that a vocational exam be passed previously.

Higher specialist schools (Höhere Fachschulen)
In addition to the degree of the secondary level (three or four year apprenticeship with federal certificates (eidgenössisches Fähigkeitszeugnis), successfully completed three-year specialised middle school or Matura school), professional experience and an entry assessment are required for the admission to educational courses at higher vocational schools (HF). The scope and contents of the entry assessment are regulated by the education providers.
