Harmonization of Obligatory School in Switzerland
By help of the EDK (Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education), the cantons have accelerated and increased their cooperation in the field of education in the course of the past years. Specifically, they work on the binding harmonization of obligatory school in entire Switzerland. This way they want to secure the quality of the educational system also for the future and to reduce obstacles of mobility.
The most important projects
The most important EDK-projects of harmonizing obligatory school are the creation of a new inter-canton agreement (organizing benchmark figures and goals of obligatory school) and in connection with this the development of national educational standards by help of
the HarmoS-project. These projects are completed by creating common curricula in each language-region. In the case of being accepted by the Swiss people, the revised educational constitution might perfectly support this intention in the future.
