Universities of applied sciences: What is taught?
 
The universities of applied sciences (FH) prepare students for professional activities that require the application of scientific knowledge and methods by means of a practice-oriented curriculum.
A total of 300 practice-orientated studies are offered in the following fields:

Bullet pointHealthcare: care, physiotherapy, ergotherapy, midwifery, nutritional consultancy
Bullet pointSocial work: social work, social pedagogics, socio-cultural animation, general societal work
Bullet pointMusic, theatre and other applied arts: instrumental and vocal music teaching, interpretation and performance, school music and church music, conducting, special musical fields, theatre worker as performing artist, theatre worker as art director, visual art, teaching profession for design and arts

In addition there are the study courses of the universities of teacher education  (Pädagogische Hochschulen), which are responsible for all forms of teacher training.
