The terms for admission to a specialised middle school (Fachmittelschule) vary. Generally, the school sets in straight after the compulsory school period. Depending on the canton, admission tests are carried out - either when a certain performance has not been reached at lower secondary level or as a general rule - otherwise the admission is granted without an admission test.
