Lower secondary level: What happens after graduation?

There are different models - combined (practical work in companies combined with general education), full-time school, and integration courses (tuition for foreign-language pupils combined with practical work). They aim to support young people in their career decision and help them prepare for the vocational world by encouraging key skills and closing individual knowledge gaps..
Upper secondary level
The types of schools with basic courses generally prepare pupils for vocational education, the types of schools with expanded courses prepare for full-time vocational schools or for more complex vocational training (also vocational Matura) and for schools of further general education (Matura schools, specialised middle schools [FMS]).
During the lower secondary level, the pupils attend classes for preparing them for the job world. Pupils are encouraged to pay thought to their future job paths, their career wishes and their capabilities, to analyse and if necessary to accept help from third parties (above all vocational counselling, vocational information centres). Every canton has vocational counselling centres where all pupils can be counselled free of charge.
