How to prevent «Numerus clausus» in Switzerland

The Swiss Business Federation economiesuisse would like to keep the free entrance to university which today is one of the main features of Swiss education. To prevent university dropouts, economiesuisse published a dossier consisting of eight proposals to reform the baccalaureate system.

The ETH Board supports the harmonisation efforts by the Confederation and the cantons on behalf of the Swiss grants system. Though it sympathises with the grants initiative of the Swiss students' union, it fears the additional costs of the initiative to the education and research budget.

SRG SSR has issued a quiz app for the national elections in five languages. Young people from lower and upper secondary level can test their knowledge about Swiss politics in and out of the classroom. From August 2015, teachers will find didactical material on the website of «SRF mySchool».

ETH: Record values despite a difficult environment

The ETH-Board in his Annual Report calls 2014 a year of records. 28‘537 students enrolled at the two Federal Institutes of Technology a new record value has been established – despite the difficult international relations. Within the last ten years, the number of students has more than doubled.
